Tim Tebow decides not to attend NFL draft tonight...will watch with family and friends in Jacksonville instead...

From Fox Sports --- The NFL draft will have less star power without Tim Tebow in attendance. Tebow spurned repeated invitations from the NFL to attend Thursday night’s selection process at Radio City Music Hall. The storied University of Florida quarterback will instead watch the proceedings with loved ones in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla.

“It was exciting to think about walking up (on stage), shaking the commissioner’s hand and holding up my jersey (of the team that drafted him),” Tebow told FOXSports.com on Wednesday. “That would have been the coolest thing. It made my decision that much harder. “But I thought it was best to be home with my friends and family. It’s not just an award for me being drafted. It’s for all the people who invested in me during my life. I want to be able to celebrate with those people.” Tebow estimates about 30 people will watch the draft with him from a family friend’s house. Tebow said he was forced to move the gathering from his parents’ home because of poor cell phone reception where they live.

NCAA takes away 12 wins from Florida State football team for cheating scandal in 2006-07...Bobby Bowden loses wins off all-time record...

Florida State will vacate athletic victories from 2006 and 2007, including 12 credited to former football coach Bobby Bowden, as part of its penalty for an academic fraud scandal in 2006-07 involving 61 student-athletes, the school announced. Last month, the NCAA upheld Florida State's appeal of sanctions affecting Bowden and nine other teams stemming from a cheating scandal involving an online music course.

13-year-old David Sills commits to play quarterback at USC...7th grader will play for the college team in 2015...

Seventh grader, David Sills, just gave a verbal commitment to the University of Southern California to be their quarterback - in 2015. The six-foot-tall 13-year-old is a wunderkind in the eyes of his personal coach Steve Clarkson, who has mentored a number of top college quarterbacks in the past. "His skill set is off the chart," Clarkson said. "I've never seen anyone at his age do what he's been able to do,"
OurSlice: This is getting a little crazy when we start getting verbal commitments from 13-year-olds. Let kids be kids for a while at least.

How will Tim Tebow do as an NFL quarterback? Some of the top scouts say not good at all...may fall to the 3rd or 4th round in draft.

A lot of people have fallen off the Tim Tebow bandwagon. He's gone from a can't miss college QB to a 'questionable' NFL prospect. One scout said: "Great kid but some of the worst mechanics and accuracy I've seen on a big-time QB prospect." Jim Zorn said: "All of these players have to be coached. Tebow must become more efficient. But the thing that you can't coach in Tebow is his heart."
OurSlice: Anyone who waits until the 3rd or 4th round to draft this guy is nuts. He's a natural leader. He's a big fearless kid, who is coachable. And he's going to work hard. Spend a couple years working on his mechanics, while using him in specialty situations, and then turn him loose.
